Travel north from Pretoria into Zimbabwe on a four-night Rovos Rail journey combining leisurely days on board with meaningful off-train experiences. Encounter dramatic granite landscapes at Matobo National Park and enjoy a wildlife drive in Hwange National Park before arriving in Victoria Falls. The journey is enriched by classic dining-car service, comfortable private suites and the open-air observation balcony.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1Pretoria | Evening Departure

    Check in at Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria, where there is time for the station tour and museum visit. Depart at approximately 18:00 as the train travels north towards Polokwane. Dinner is served on board.

  2. Day 2Limpopo | A Day on the Rails

    Spend the day enjoying the train’s lounges and dining cars as the journey crosses the Tropic of Capricorn, passes the Soutpansberg Mountains and travels through the Limpopo River valley. South Africa–Zimbabwe border formalities are scheduled along the route.

  3. Day 3Matobo National Park | Zimbabwe’s Granite Landscapes

    Continue through Zimbabwe’s baobab country towards Bulawayo. After lunch, transfer to UNESCO-listed Matobo National Park to explore its remarkable granite formations and the area associated with Cecil John Rhodes’ grave. Return to the train for dinner.

  4. Day 4Hwange National Park | Wildlife Drive

    Travel along the eastern edge of Hwange National Park and a long, straight section of railway. Enjoy a scheduled afternoon game drive in Zimbabwe’s largest national park before returning to the train for the evening.

  5. Day 5Victoria Falls | Arrival

    Enjoy breakfast on board before arriving at Victoria Falls Station at approximately 10:00. The Rovos Rail journey concludes on arrival; any guided Falls visit, cruise or post-journey accommodation should be arranged separately.

Victoria Falls
This 4-night rail programme does not include a Falls tour or sunset cruise; these can be quoted separately.
Routing
Rovos Rail may re-route the journey via Botswana depending on railway capacity.
Reservations
A provisional supplier reservation may be held for up to 14 days, subject to availability. Rovos Rail requests a 25% deposit and full payment 60 days before departure for individual bookings.
Cancellation insurance
Cancellation insurance is compulsory. Sedunia Travel booking and cancellation terms may differ from the supplier terms and will be advised at quotation stage.
Passports and visas
Passports should carry at least five blank visa pages and remain valid for six months beyond the return-home date. Required visas must be arranged in advance.
Times
Rovos Rail itineraries and times are approximate. Avoid same-day time-sensitive onward connections.
